JAVIS Smart Speaker

The JAVIS Smart Speaker was developed as an early Vietnamese-language smart-home interface, combining voice interaction, connected-device control and the JAVIS ecosystem.

JAVIS Smart Speaker: a fabric-covered touchscreen speaker showing a Vietnamese voice command

An early milestone in Vietnamese voice AI

JAVIS was presented as one of the first touchscreen smart speakers in Vietnam to support Vietnamese voice control. It used AI-based speech recognition to interact with the smart devices in a home.

This page is kept as product history. Its engineering experience — Vietnamese speech interaction and connected-device control — now informs the computer vision, edge AI and intelligent IoT work of JAVIS AI.

Highlights

Vietnamese voice assistant

Recognised Vietnamese speech across regional accents to control smart devices — TVs, air conditioners, fans, switches and colour lights. It also answered everyday requests such as weather, gold prices, exchange rates, lunar-calendar conversion, Wikipedia lookups, music, YouTube and radio.

Designed for the home

A carefully detailed design intended to sit naturally in any interior, with Hi-Fi audio, a sharp 2K touch display and a built-in battery for portability.

4K output

Could connect to a TV, projector or external display to act as a home entertainment hub with output up to 4K.

Fast response

Backed by servers located in Vietnam to keep Vietnamese voice processing and command execution responsive.

Hi-Fi speaker

Stereo, high-fidelity sound with Bluetooth playback from phones and other mobile devices.

Built-in JAVIS HC smart-home hub

The speaker integrated the JAVIS HC central controller, so every device in the JAVIS smart-home ecosystem could be managed from the single Javis Home app. The hub could also connect to devices from well-known international brands.

  • Philips Hue
  • Xiaomi
  • Yeelight
  • SmartThings
  • Broadlink

Frequently asked questions

Historical answers about how the JAVIS Smart Speaker worked.

What was the minimum setup needed to switch lights by voice?

A JAVIS Speaker and at least one JAVIS smart switch. After connecting the switch to Wi-Fi through the Javis Home app, saying “update devices” made it available for Vietnamese voice control.

Was a separate JAVIS HC hub required to control a TV, fan or air conditioner?

No. The speaker already included all JAVIS HC hub functions. Infrared appliances only needed an IR blaster such as the Broadlink RM mini or RM pro.

How was the speaker updated?

Over the internet. From the speaker settings, “Check for new version” downloaded the update automatically and guided the user on screen. New skills were added regularly, and many activated without a restart.

Could one speaker control devices in other rooms?

Yes. Control did not depend on where the speaker was placed — any device connected to the same Javis Home account could be controlled, and multiple speakers could share one account.

What was the voice recognition range?

Recognition worked best within about 3–5 metres, depending on background noise. Accuracy decreased in noisy environments.
